That night, Samantha decided to end her husband’s life. She had been married to him for 15 years, and she had been happy for most of that time. Her husband was loving and supportive, and she couldn’t imagine her life without him.
But despite her happiness, Samantha was worried about the future. Her husband was worth millions, and he had always promised her that she would inherit everything when he died. But as the years went by, Samantha began to worry they would grow old together and she would only be left with her old age when he finally died.
So one night, when her husband was fast asleep, Samantha slipped out of bed and went to the kitchen. She opened the drawer where he kept his medications and found what she was looking for: a bottle of pills that he took to thin his blood.
Samantha knew that if her husband took too many of the blood thinner pills, he would die of internal bleeding and they would never trace the killing back to her. She crushed the bottle of pills and mixed the powder in with his hefty dinner that night.
He had his dinner and didn’t suspect anything. Now it was just a matter of time before he died. She knew she had a few days before her husband would die, and Samantha would inherit everything when he did. She would finally have the financial security and freedom she had always wanted
As the days went on , Samantha began to feel guilty. She had always told herself that she was doing this for the right reasons. But it was too late now, it had been several days since he overdosed on the blood thinner and he was looking very pale.
Her husband visited his doctor and came home with a recommendation from him to take two aspirin and to call in the morning if he still didn’t feel right. What should she do? She steeled herself with the knowledge that she would soon be free.
Her husband died that night and when the police arrived at the house the next morning, Samantha was sobbing uncontrollably in the living room. She knew that she had done something terrible, but was resolved to see it though to the end.
The police investigated her husband’s death and ultimately ruled the cause was a natural death. She was free now. Despite the fact that she had been satisfied with her marriage, Samantha realized too late that money was not worth the cost of taking a life. She wished that she had found a different solution to her financial worries, and she vowed never to let greed and desperation lead her down a path of destruction again.
