With the launch of the James Webb Space Telescope came the excitement and anticipation of some amazing first images, and the JWST did not disappoint. The first images were amazing and revealed never-before-seen details in some favorite targets.
Fortunately, the JWST team makes their observations available for download, which means anyone that can open a FITS file can process them and create their own interpretation of the FITS data.
I recently completed and published an article called Downloading and Processing JWST Images using PixInsight. The article covers everything a reader needs to know about downloading and processing their first JWST image.
It was a challenging article because there was so much new to learn, assimilate, and explain. It took about eight hours to write the article and collect the images and screenshots – I divided the work over a couple of days.
